Nonvolatile, nonhygroscopic, odorless, sulfamate acid demonstrates high stability at normal temperature and can maintain its original quality for several years. Acid sulfamic is freely soluble in water and liquid ammonia, exhibiting strong acidity in water solution.

Slightly soluble in methanol, sulfamic acid is insoluble in ethanol and ether. With the characteristics of a double functional group of amidogen and sulphonic radical, sulfamate acid can undergo chemical reactions with many substances. The melting point is 205°C, and the decomposing temperature is 209°C. Sulfamic acid liquid and sulfamic acid powder are commonly referenced forms.

Sulfamic Acid (SA) Uses

Mainly used as cleaning agent of descaling, sulfamate acid effectively clears away oxidized surfaces and is slightly corrosive to metal. Acid sulfamic can be used in water treatment sterilization, bleaching of fiber, wood and paper, acidification process, nitrite removal in tobacco and sludge treatment in oil mines. Additionally, sulfamic acid is utilized in the manufacturing of dyes and pigments, as a fire retardant, a curing agent in the plastics industry, for chlorine stabilization, as well as in electroplating and electro-refining.
